Fred J. Newton, your surreal radio host of CHCR's "The Local Show" is a Valley native, born and raised in Barry's Bay Ontario.

His viewpoint has been a culmination of observation and documentation of his homeland culture(s), and the extranious influences that seek to change and sometimes destroy what has made this homeland so desirable in the first place... It's clean waters, fresh air and vast landscapes.
His mandate is the protection of and the disemination of the country knowledge contained in the stories and history of his shared cultures, that of his Kichi Sibi Anishnaabe and European ancestors.
Through the devices of news information, biting satire, and an eclectic range of music; Newton attempts to incite dialgue and curry discourse on a variety of important local issues, some of which extend into the national and international arenas.
